IndustryPace Is Back. So Is Most of What It Was Writing About.

Sixteen years ago this site asked who was getting paid when ad fraud happened. The answer has not changed. The invoices got bigger.

IndustryPace went quiet in 2011. The questions it was asking did not.

Between 2010 and 2011 this site wrote about cookie stuffing at eBay, free trials that never ended, malware riding through ad exchanges, video ads nobody could see and the affiliate networks that got paid on every sign-up and never asked how the sign-up happened. Some of those posts are still cited by Ben Edelman, BrandVerity and others, which is why the old addresses still get traffic sixteen years later.

The original text of those posts is not available right now. Rather than leave dead links, each one has been rebuilt at its original address: the 2010 headline, the 2010 date, and a new piece on what actually happened and how it aged, built from court records, FTC filings and the reporting of the time. Where the record could not be found, the page says so. Where a post concerned allegations about a private person that could not be checked, it stays offline until it can be.

What this site is now

Commentary. Shorter and looser than the investigations at ADOTAT, which is where the reporting lives. IndustryPace is where the argument lives: what a filing means, what a press release left out, and which 2010 problem just got a new name and a new funding round.

Reading the archive back in 2026 is humbling in one direction and infuriating in the other. Some calls were early. A few were wrong. But almost every mechanism described here in 2010 is still running, just at programmatic scale, with better branding and a measurement partner paid by the people being measured.

The column on the side pulls the latest news from ADOTAT. The rest is here.
